DHS, NYPD Test Mesh Networking, Android Tactical Awareness

The Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology Directorate First Responder Group examined two communications technologies and evaluated them for public-safety use. FRG evaluated the Mobile Ad-hoc Networking system, a communications system originally developed for military use, and an Android Tactical Awareness Kit to determine if they could improve communications and public-safety situational awareness.
